Black Friday 2026 falls on Friday, November 27, 2026 and Cyber Monday on Monday, November 30, 2026. If you’re buying a gaming gift this year, the question isn’t really “will there be deals?” — there always are — it’s which kinds of gift actually get cheaper, and which don’t, so you know whether waiting is worth it.
This page answers that from the record rather than the hype. Everything below about what went on sale comes from Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft’s own Black Friday announcements for 2024 and 2025, and from Valve’s published 2026 sale calendar — all linked in the sources at the bottom. We don’t predict percentages, we don’t invent “expected” prices, and we say clearly when something is unknown.
Nothing for 2026 has been announced yet. When the deals go live in November, they’ll be posted on this page with their source, and the “last updated” date above will change. What actually went on sale in past Novembers
Here is what each platform holder announced, from their own announcements, for the last two Black Fridays. Two years is not a law of nature — it’s the record, and it tells you which kinds of gift have a history of going on sale.
Nintendo: game price cuts both years, console bundles rather than cuts
2025: the Switch 2 stayed at its $449.99 suggested price. The offer was a Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle at $499.99 — a saving against buying both separately, not a cheaper console. Physical Switch games went to $39.99 (Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Luigi’s Mansion 3 and others) and $29.99 (Super Mario Odyssey, Nintendo Switch Sports and others) from November 23, and the eShop “Cyber Deals” ran November 20 through December 3.
2024: Switch consoles came bundled with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and a year of Nintendo Switch Online ($299.99 standard, $349.99 OLED — a stated $79.98 saving) and first-party games dropped $20 from November 24, with Tears of the Kingdom at $49.99 and Animal Crossing, Kirby, Switch Sports and others at $39.99.
What that means for a gift buyer: if the present is a Nintendo game, waiting for the last week of November has paid off two years running — but only for the specific titles Nintendo chose, so check the game you want against the announcement when it lands. If the present is a Nintendo console, expect a bundle: the console itself was not cheaper either year.
PlayStation: real console price cuts, modest accessory cuts
2025: from November 21, Sony took $100 off the PS5 (standard and Digital Edition) and the PS5 Pro in select regions, $20 off the DualSense controller, $30 off the DualSense Edge, $100 off PS VR2 and $20 off the PlayStation Portal. New PlayStation Plus members could save up to 33% on a 12-month membership, and hundreds of digital games on PlayStation Store went up to 75% off.
What that means for a gift buyer: a PlayStation console is the one big-ticket gaming gift with a recent record of a genuine Black Friday price cut. A DualSense controller has been cut too, but by $20 — if you need one earlier, the wait has historically saved less than the stock risk costs. The PS Plus offer is for the person signing up, not a discount on a gift code.
Xbox: inconsistent on consoles, reliable on digital games
2025: Microsoft’s announcement listed no console price cut. It offered savings on “select Xbox wireless accessories,” a 14-days-for-$1 Game Pass trial for new subscribers, up to 75% off Xbox digital games through December 3, and a Meta Quest 3S bundle at $249.99 for Game Pass members.
2024: $50 off the Xbox Series X 1TB and the Series S 512GB, $10 off select Xbox Wireless Controllers, and over 1,000 digital games at up to 55% off.
What that means for a gift buyer: don’t plan around an Xbox console cut — it happened one year and not the next. Controllers have been cut by small amounts. The Game Pass promo is a trial for the recipient’s own account, not a discount on the gift-code version we link.
Steam and PC: the sale is in October, not November
Valve’s own published calendar puts the Steam Autumn Sale on October 1 to 8, 2026 and the Winter Sale on December 17, 2026 to January 4, 2027. There is no Steam-wide sale over Black Friday weekend itself. Steam gift cards are sold at face value, so there is nothing to wait for there.
What rarely or never goes on sale
Store gift cards. A $50 Nintendo eShop, PlayStation or Xbox card costs $50 — look at the live prices on our gift card guide and you’ll see face value on every one. There is nothing to wait for. If a gift card is your plan, buy it whenever is convenient.
The newest Nintendo hardware. In 2025 the Switch 2 was bundled, not discounted. Nintendo’s own announcements in both years cut game prices and bundled consoles rather than cutting console prices.
Games released in the last few weeks. Every title in the Nintendo and Sony announcements above had been out for a while. A brand-new release is the gift least likely to be cheaper by Black Friday.
Buy now or wait? A straight answer by kind of gift
Gift cards and subscription codes: buy now. Nothing to wait for.
A PlayStation 5: if you can wait, the 2025 record says the week before Black Friday is when Sony cut $100. Nothing for 2026 is announced.
A Nintendo console: expect a bundle rather than a lower price. If a bundle with the game you’d have bought anyway appears, that’s the deal; otherwise buying now costs the same as waiting, and stock is more certain.
An Xbox console: unpredictable. Buy when you need it.
Nintendo first-party games: worth waiting for if the game you want is on Nintendo’s list — it has meant $20 off two years running.
Controllers and headsets: the official cuts have been $10 to $30. Buy when you need it; if the timing happens to line up with the sale, good.
Anything on Amazon: Amazon’s own pricing moves daily regardless of the calendar. The live price on each pick shows today’s number and the list price it’s against, which is a better guide than any sale banner.
One rule outranks all of the above: if it has to be under the tree, buy it by early December. A saving is no use on a gift that doesn’t arrive.
Black Friday 2026 is Friday, November 27, 2026 — the day after Thanksgiving — and Cyber Monday is Monday, November 30, 2026. In 2024 and 2025 the platform holders' gaming sales started in the week before Black Friday and ran into the first days of December, so the exact day mattered less than the window.
Do game consoles go on sale for Black Friday?+
It depends on the maker. Sony announced $100 off PS5 consoles for Black Friday 2025. Nintendo bundled its consoles with games in both 2024 and 2025 rather than lowering the console price. Microsoft cut $50 off Xbox consoles in 2024 but listed no console cut in 2025. Nothing for 2026 has been announced.
Do gaming gift cards go on sale for Black Friday?+
Store gift cards (Nintendo eShop, PlayStation, Xbox, Steam) are sold at face value — a $50 card costs $50 — and there is nothing to wait for. If a gift card is your plan, buy it whenever is convenient.
Should I buy a gaming gift now or wait for Black Friday?+
Gift cards: buy now. A PlayStation 5: waiting has paid off in 2025. A Nintendo console: expect a bundle, not a lower price. Nintendo games: worth waiting for if the title is on Nintendo's list, which has meant $20 off two years running. Controllers and headsets: past official cuts were $10-$30, so buy when you need it. Whatever you do, order anything that must arrive for Christmas by early December.
Is Cyber Monday better than Black Friday for gaming deals?+
We have no evidence either way, and we won't guess. What the record shows is that Nintendo's, Sony's and Microsoft's 2024 and 2025 gaming offers ran across the whole window — starting around November 20-24 and ending December 2-3 — rather than being split between the two days.
