Hi, I'm Stephen
An enthusiast who's genuinely into games — and into helping people who aren't.
“I'm Stephen — an enthusiast who's genuinely into games and, honestly, into helping people who aren't gamers pick a gift that lands. I don't run a test lab and I won't pretend to. What I do: read the manuals, compile the published specs and prices, check what actual players say, and turn it into can't-go-wrong picks sorted by who you're buying for. No jargon, no lab coat.”
What I actually do
I’m not a professional reviewer and I don’t run a test lab — and I think pretending otherwise is exactly the thing that makes gift guides untrustworthy. What I do is the homework a busy gift buyer doesn’t have time for: read the manuals and official game pages, check the ESRB age rating, look at what real owners are saying, and work out which gift genuinely fits which person. Then I write it up in plain English, with the price shown live so nothing goes stale.
Why an enthusiast, not an “expert”
I’m into a lot of things — games among them — and I’m curious enough to do the reading. That’s the honest description, and it’s the one that actually helps you: I’m close enough to the hobby to know what’s good, and far enough from the jargon to explain it to someone standing outside it. I won’t claim a credential I don’t hold or a test I didn’t run.
How I keep it honest
- Every factual claim traces to a real source — a manufacturer page, an official listing, or the ESRB.
- Prices are live and dated; no stale or invented numbers.
- Every pick gets an honest “skip it if…” — the trade-offs, not just the good bits.
- Affiliate commission never decides a pick. Here’s how funding works.
Spotted something I got wrong? Tell me— if you’re right, I’ll fix it and say so. The full process is on the how we pick page.
